About Us
Hi! My name is Edye Ware and I founded Juna’s General Store alongside my husband, Mark. Both my husband and I were raised with stories, and firsthand experiences of our grandparents running trading posts and general stores in Cherokee County. It is those memories that sparked the idea and desire to bring Juna’s General Store to life.
Juna’s General Store was born from a deep-rooted love for Andrews, North Carolina and a shared vision to be part of its community. Originally from this area, opening the store has long been a dream of ours, one grounded in community, connection, and a desire to contribute to the place we love calling home.
My husband and I built Juna’s to be more than just a store. We want it to feel welcoming, familiar, and full of heart, a place where all who journey through the mountains can discover a sense of home whether you’re passing through or planting roots.
Outside the store, we enjoy hiking the mountains we grew up around, traveling, and spending time with our ever-growing family. Our values of connection, simplicity, and appreciation for people and place are woven into everything we do at Juna’s.
One thing we’re most proud of is the opportunity to support our local community in a meaningful way. Through Juna’s General Store, we are able to showcase and sell goods from 60+ local and regional artisans, makers, and vendors. This creates a pathway for individuals and families to share their talents, grow their businesses, and generate income, something we believe is vital to a thriving small town.
Juna’s General Store is, at its core, a reflection of the people who make this community special. We’re grateful to be a small part of that story.
Meaning Behind Our Name
Why Juna’s? It was inspired by the Junaluska area right outside of Andrews. This area is meaningful to us and holds a special place of connection and memory for us. Some of our favorite moments have been spent driving those winding roads, watching the streams that run alongside the road, all the while taking in the beauty of the national forest. Naming the store Juna’s felt like a great way to honor those memories and the region that helped shape who we are.
In many ways, the name reflects exactly what we hope the store represents: a sense of place, a connection to the past, and an appreciation for the quiet, meaningful moments that bring people together.
